Pain is the number one reason patients turn to medical marijuana. This pain can be derived from a variety of conditions. A person may have pain because they were in a car accident or they may have chronic pain due to cancer treatment, such as chemotherapy.

You’ll find that there is big debate of sativa vs. Indica strains when it comes to combating pain with cannabis.
Sativa weed is often the preferred strain because it provides an energetic high. Indica is known to provide a full-body high, which would be the ideal choice for anyone with severe body pain. A person that may be suffering from the effects of chemotherapy would likely prefer indica. But patients are not limited to just one or the other when it comes to marijuana strains. In some cases, a hybrid strain may be the best option for your pain.
The strongest weed for one person may be drastically different than the preferred weed for another person’s pain.

Health researchers for the US government claim that cannabinoids - the active ingredients in cannabis - can inhibit the illness by causing cell death and blocking key blood vessels needed by tumours to grow.
They say studies in mice and rats show cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells - while still protecting normal cells.​

"A laboratory study of delta-9-THC in hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) cells showed that it damaged or killed the cancer cells. The same study of delta-9-THC in mouse models of liver cancer showed that it had antitumor effects."

LONG-RANGE weather forecasters have warned that Britain should prepare for heavy and persistent snow for up to THREE MONTHS with winter 2013 set to be the worst in more than 60 years

BRITAIN is facing the most savage winter in more than 50 years with months of heavy snowfall and bitter Arctic winds set to bring the country to a total standstill.
Sub-zero temperatures and violent snow storms could hit as soon as late October as a freak ocean cooling in the Atlantic threatens to trigger a historic, nationwide whiteout.

Emergency services have been warned to prepare for a repeat of the devastating 1962/63 winter which saw rivers and lakes freeze over across Britain. 

The shock warnings have also sparked fears Britain could face fuel and food shortages as roads and transport networks grind to a halt.Meteorologists and oceanographers warn plunging ocean temperatures in the Atlantic are at the root of the crisis.Temperatures in the Gulf Stream - the warm ocean current which runs up the east coast of America - have plummeted over the past year.

The stream merges into the North Atlantic Drift which normally pushes warm water towards the west coast of the United Kingdom.

However a drastic reduction in speed and temperature of the current has left Britain without any buffer to a bitter Arctic influx.

Experts fear a repeat of the worst winter in history which saw temperatures plunge to near -20C in January 1963 causing the sea to freeze off the Kent coast.

That went on to be the coldest month since January 1814, with an average temperature of −2.1C.

Invasion of the giant MOTHS: Palm-sized insects are flocking to the UK - and you can attract them to your garden with tobacco and wine

• Other species descending on the UK include the Death's-head hawkmoth, Tree-lichen beauty, Oak rustic and Sombre brocade

Moths the size of human hands are said to be descending on Britain in record numbers as they migrate from southern Europe. 

One in particular, called the Convolvulus hawkmoth, has been sighted widely across the country in recent weeks.



It is one of the largest moths in Europe with a typical wingspan of 5-inches (12cm) and it is attracted to tobacco plants and wine.

The palm-sized moth migrates from southern Europe to Britain in early autumn and has already been sighted widely across the UK, with a record number expected later this year.
Every year several hundred of the moths are spotted and numbers are believed to be increasing, with some seen as far north as North Yorkshire and Shetland.

As part of this year's Moth Night celebrations, experts at Butterfly Conservation are urging members of the public to look for the Convolvulus and other migrant species to help build a clearer picture of moth migration into the UK.

Around 40 species of moths have appeared in the UK for the first time in the last 15 years with a small number becoming established, such as the Black-spotted Chestnut.

Other species that were long considered occasional migrants have now also become established residents in recent years such as the Tree-lichen beauty, Oak rustic, Sombre brocade, Blair's Mocha, Flame Brocade and Clifden Nonpareil.

The apparent increase in records could reveal important information about the effects of climate change on UK moth populations.

Another species to look out for includes the Death's-head hawkmoth. 


'It has already been an amazing year for moth immigration and such activity usually peaks in early autumn,' said Richard Fox, head of recording at Butterfly Conservation.

'With migrants such as the massive Convolvulus hawkmoth mixing with beautiful home-grown autumnal species, Moth Night is a great opportunity to discover the hidden wonders of our nocturnal wildlife at a public event or even in your own back garden.'

Around 40 species of these moths have appeared in the UK for the first time in the last 15 years with a small number becoming established, such as the Black-spotted Chestnut.

Migrant moths will come to moth-traps, but can also be attracted by hanging out ropes soaked in alcohol, preferably wine, in a practice known as wine roping.

Another moth attracting technique, known as sugaring, involves painting a mixture of sugar, syrup and beer onto a post or tree trunk.

Despite the huge Convolvulus' wingspan, it is capable of pin-point precision flight as it hovers to drink nectar from deep tubular tobacco plant flowers using a 3-inch long (7.5cm) proboscis.

Another species to look out for includes the Death's-head hawkmoth.

A historical omen of death, sights of it reportedly sent King George III mad and it appeared in the film Silence of the Lambs.

The Crimson Speckled moth, which is usually found in North Africa and Southern Europe, is another species to spot after higher than average numbers were recorded along the south coast last year.

Last year also saw the largest number of Vestal moths entering the UK for half a century.

The delicately patterned Vestal is typically found in North Africa and Southern Europe and last autumn it was found as far north as Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The Moth Night campaign runs from today until Saturday. 

Mark Tunmore, editor of journal Atropos, said: 'We will be remaining extra vigilant at Atropos's headquarters in Cornwall over the Moth Night period.

'For many decades this area has been a famous location for visiting moth enthusiasts, hoping to see some of the rarer visitors to our shores at this time of year.

'One of the great things about moth recording is that immigrant species have the potential to turn up anywhere in the UK so you don't have to live in the south or even at the coast to have a chance of observing something unusual and I encourage everyone to get involved, wherever they might live.'

Moth recorders at UK migration hotspots have been colour marking some moths caught in the days leading up to Moth Night and organisers will be asking people to keep an eye out for marked moths in the hope that it might reveal more information about insect migration.
